Oceania Youth Talent Team – China Training Camp

To kickstart 2026, the Oceania Youth Talent Team attended a China training camp at the Chengdu National Key Table Tennis Training School from 4-18 January.

The 2026 Oceania Youth Talent Team was selected taking into consideration 2025 results, future potential, plus national association engagement and support, with the following players selected:

  • GIRLS: Isabella Lekueta (SOL), Clara Sayegh (PYF), Temehau Tere (PYF), Alyssa Yeung (AUS).
  • BOYS: Lucas Alexandre (NZL), Ariinui Pambrun (PYF), Oscar Pan (AUS), Raphaël Quinne (NCL), Leo Sayegh (PYF).

The delegation was led by the Oceania Development Officers, Hongbo Liang and Ocean Belrose. Throughout the training camp, the players joined a professional environment spending six hours per day training. The players learned technical, tactical, physical and psychological aspects of table tennis and had the opportunity to experience what it takes to play at the highest level.

As is common within the Oceania table tennis family, the team developed a strong sense of camaraderie despite coming from many different countries and cultural backgrounds and speaking many different languages. It is hoped that the training camp helped the players and inspired them to reach their short-term and long-term goals.

The Oceania Youth Talent Team forms part of the Oceania Development Program, which is supported by ITTF; we are grateful for ITTF’s ongoing support for our key activities and programs.

Oceania also thanks Chengdu National Key Table Tennis Training School for their outstanding hospitality. This is the first time in more than 10 years that ITTF-Oceania have sent a delegation to Chengdu and we look forward to hopefully returning more regularly in the future.

Last but not least, ITTF-Oceania thanks the China Table Tennis Association for their help in facilitating arrangements in Chengdu; we are appreciative of the support provided by one of the international leaders of table tennis.
