Oceania Tennis Federation Hosts 34th Pacific Oceania Junior Championships

The Oceania Tennis Federation (OTF) successfully hosted the 34th edition of the Pacific Oceania Junior Championships (POJC) from 2–11 April 2025 in Fiji, bringing together over a hundred junior athletes from 15 Pacific Island nations and territories. As OTF’s flagship junior development event, the POJC continues to serve as a vital platform for nurturing young tennis talent across the Pacific region.

The Championships were held across two venues: the Regional Tennis Centre in Lautoka, which hosted the 14 & under and 16 & Under competitions, and the Nadi Sports and Social Club, where the 12 & Under Team Championships and development camp took place.

The Opening Ceremony featured traditional Fijian meke performances and was officiated by the Honourable Jese Saukuru, Minister for Youth and Sports. Also in attendance were OTF Board Member Vicki Reid and Fiji Sports Council CEO Mr. Gilbert Vakalalabure. The Closing Ceremony was held at the RSL Hotel in Lautoka, graced again by Minister Saukuru and outgoing OTF President Mr. Cyrille Mainguy.

Governance Engagement
The Championships coincided with the 2025 OTF Annual General Meeting, enabling OTF Board Members to attend matches, engage with participants, and observe the impact of OTF’s development initiatives.

The success of the 34th POJC reflects the collective efforts of federations, volunteers, technical officials, and the strong backing of the International Tennis Federation and the Grand Slam Player Development Programme. The event continues to provide young Pacific athletes with meaningful opportunities to compete, learn, and represent their nations with pride.
