At the 2025 ITTF-Oceania AGM, held in Qatar on 25 May, Mr. Anthony Ho was unanimously awarded ITTF-Oceania Personal Honorary Membership.
Anthony’s contribution to table tennis at national, continental and international level was enormous from the time he started playing as a youngster in Fiji until his passing in 2021, aged 60. Hence, the 23 ITTF-Oceania Member Associations present at the AGM unanimously saw fit to posthumously bestow ITTF-Oceania Personal Honorary Membership upon Anthony.
Anthony’s daughter, Ms. Lina Ho, recorded a touching tribute, which can be viewed by CLICKING HERE. ITTF-Oceania sincerely thanks Lina for this outstanding acknowledgement of her late father.

As a player, Anthony won 10 National Men’s Singles and more than 10 National Doubles titles in Fiji over a 30-year career. He participated in five Pacific Games, winning three silver and three bronze medals. He participated in five Oceania Championships and competed at the 1991 World Championships.
As a coach, Anthony was involved from grass roots to the highest level. He conducted countless school visits, worked with people with a disability, introduced generations of new players to the game and worked tirelessly to lift the level of table tennis in Fiji and Oceania. Anthony went on to serve as Coach/Team Manager for Fiji at the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Pacific Games, Pacific Mini Games, Oceania Championships and Oceania Cup.
As an administrator, Anthony was a titan of the sport. Across a span of more than 15 years, he served as President of Fiji Table Tennis Association, as an ITTF-Oceania Management Committee Member, and on the ITTF Board of Directors. Anthony rose to become ITTF-Oceania President, a position he held from 2017 until his passing in 2021.
Anthony played a pivotal role in developing para table tennis in Fiji. Under his guidance, Fijian players qualified for the 2016 Paralympic Games and 2017 World Para Championships.
Anthony also played a lead role in Fiji hosting multiple international events, including the ITTF World Cadet Challenge (which received an ITTF award for Outstanding Event Hosting), ITTF World Junior Circuit, ITTF-Oceania Cup, ITTF-Oceania Championships, ITTF-Oceania Junior Championships and ITTF-Oceania Para Championships.
Throughout his tenure, Fiji Table Tennis Association won several National Sports Awards multiple years in a row, including Young Athlete of the Year, Sportswoman of the Year and Organisation of the Year. Additionally, multiple Fijian athletes qualified for the Oceania Cadet Team and were selected into the Oceania Talent Team.
Anthony was recognised multiple times for his service to table tennis. He was awarded the Sports Administrator of the Year by the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC) in 2005, 2009 and 2018, as well as being the Sports Volunteer of the Year in 2009. Additionally, in 2020 Anthony was awarded the Independence Medal by the President of Fiji; only 30 individuals throughout the entirety of Fiji were bestowed this honour for making an impact on socio-economic progress and inclusivity among the community in the 50 years since the independence of Fiji in 1970.
Anthony personally helped countless individuals and those who needed assistance, in table tennis and in life. He regularly hosted players in Fiji and abroad for competition and training opportunities, many of whom went on to become Olympians, Commonwealth Games representatives, Oceania champions and Pacific Games champions.
Outside of table tennis, Anthony was also a successful businessman, running his own accountancy firm for more than 30 years.
Anthony’s contribution to table tennis was acknowledged and respected while he was alive, and since his passing those contributions have become even more evident.
Anthony sits comfortably as the first Fijian to have ITTF-Oceania Personal Honorary Membership bestowed upon him, which is a fitting way to ensure his legacy lives on for decades to come.
Congratulations Anthony, we know you will be looking down with pride at this significant and outstanding achievement.
