Inaugural Asia Pacific Opens Touch Cup Set to Tap-Off in Mudgee, NSW, Australia

The Federation of International Touch (FIT) is proud to present the first-ever Asia Pacific Opens Touch Cup (APOTC), to be held in Mudgee, New South Wales from 23 to 26 April 2026.

Classified as a Tier 2A Federation event, the four-day tournament marks a significant milestone in the development of international Touch competitions across the Asia Pacific region.

Hosted in the Mudgee Region, known for its relaxed country hospitality, vibrant town centre, excellent food and wine, boutique shopping, and scenic countryside, the event will welcome 13 countries and 25 teams competing across Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed Open divisions. Participating Oceania nations include Tonga, Samoa, Australia, the Cook Islands, and New Zealand.

The competition will culminate in playoffs and Grand Finals for each division on Sunday, 26 April. The tournament coincides with ANZAC Day, with FIT working collaboratively with the Mudgee Council and local community to take part in a commemorative parade and address in the town centre and stadium prior to matches commencing in the early afternoon on Saturday.

Despite facing financial constraints, player availability challenges, and other logistical constraints, participating teams are in the final stages of preparation and remain committed to showcasing their talent and representing their respective countries on the international stage.

The Asia Pacific Opens Touch Cup forms part of FIT’s strategic vision to expand international fixtures and provide competitive pathways for teams, building towards the Touch World Cup 2028.

This inaugural event is set to deliver a high-quality competition experience while strengthening regional collaboration and advancing the growth of Touch across the Asia Pacific.
