Meet Guillame Gailly: The European Champion bringing his knowledge to the Pacific

As he sat in the coach’s chair at the VICTOR Oceania Championships, Guillaume Gailly donned a shirt with a name and logo he’s only recently become properly acquainted with.

The French para badminton medalist and long-time coach has taken on a new identity: Head Coach and Technical Manager of Tahiti’s badminton federation.

Over the last few months, he worked on the ground to bolster the Shuttle Time workforce across Tahiti and New Caledonia.

He brings with him a wealth of knowledge, as a BWF Shuttle Time Trainer, Level 1 Tutor and a World Para Badminton Championships bronze medalist.

Gailly’s first week on the job was at the VICTOR Oceania Championships in February. We sat down with him and discussed his Paralympic project, the global journey badminton has taken him on, and his goals for French Polynesia.
