Alexandre and Chen Win Gold at 2026 ITTF-Oceania Hopes Week

The 2026 ITTF-Oceania Hopes Week wrapped up on 25 July at Auckland Table Tennis Association. The competition day brought formalities to an end, with New Zealand claiming double gold and the majority of the medals.

In the Boy’s Singles event, Lucas Alexandre (NZL) stormed to victory in a dominant display after not conceding a single game throughout the day. The win made it back-to-back gold for the young Kiwi following his victory in New Caledonia in 2025. Alexandre overcame Matome Mongalo (NZL) in the final, with Akhil Arjun (NZL) winning bronze.

Katie Chen (NZL) was equally impressive, earning top position on the podium in the Girl’s Singles, only dropping a solitary game en route to victory. Chen defeated Dhatri Tatikonda (AUS) in the final, while Amilia Sun (AUS) claimed bronze.
