The Oceania Athletics Association (OAA) and Athletics North Queensland were delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for leadership training to individuals committed to growing and developing athletics within their Member Federation. Athletics North Queensland successfully received funding from the Queensland Government to conduct a Gender Leadership Seminar in Townsville during their Annual General Assembly and invited OAA to conduct this seminar from November 14 to 16, 2024.
The goal of the Leadership Programme is to improve the quantity and quality of leaders (specifically women and other underrepresented groups), support leadership development, and encourage opportunities for progress globally. Additionally, it aims to enhance the overall profile of our sport, “Athletics.”
We were pleased to see over 30 participants take part in the Gender Leadership Seminar and witness some of these participants being nominated and successfully appointed to the Athletics North Queensland Board. Congratulations to everyone who attended the seminar!
