The 9th Marist Touch Tournament has wrapped up after an exciting weekend of Touch action in beautiful Samoa last month at the Football Federation Fields, Tuanaimato. A total of 26 teams took part across the Men’s, Women’s and Mixed divisions, bringing together athletes from all over Samoa — and from overseas.
The event is sanctioned annually in partnership with Samoa Touch supporting the continued growth and development of the sport in Samoa.
This year, we were proud to host three international teams:
• Recess (Nadi, Fiji)
• NSW Selection (NSW, Australia)
• 2Fresh (Auckland, New Zealand)
Their participation helped elevated the level of competition and strengthened our Pacific sports connections.
Congratulations to the 2025 Champions:
• Men’s Open Division: 2 Fresh
• Women’s Open Division: No Idea
• Mixed Open Division: Marist Family
We acknowledge the participation of three referees from New Zealand who not only officiated matches but also shared valuable experience through knowledge exchange sessions with our local match officials. This collaboration reflects Marist Touch’s ongoing commitment to capacity building and development within Samoa’s refereeing network.
The overseas referees and visiting players helped improve the level of competition and showed that the tournament is becoming a strong sports tourism event, promoting Samoa’s friendly people, rich culture, and beautiful paradise to the world (685 to the world).
With the 2025 tournament complete, all focus now shifts to a major milestone — the 10th anniversary Marist Touch Tournament in October 2026. Plans are underway to introduce a 30s Mixed and/or Men’s Division, expanding participation and keeping the game growing for all ages.
